Surf Spots in Tumbes

Tumbes, at the far north of Peru, is synonymous with warm tropical water all year round and an eternal-summer atmosphere. Its beaches, such as Punta Sal, Zorritos, Acapulco and Bocapán, offer mainly friendly beach breaks ideal for beginners, along with some reef breaks with more character such as Cancas and Punta Mero for experienced surfers. The mild sea, with temperatures close to 26 degrees, allows surfing without a wetsuit in any season, something unique on the Peruvian coast. The best time for waves runs from November to March, with north swells. Beyond surfing, the region adds attractions such as humpback whale watching and a rich seafood cuisine, which makes it a perfect destination to combine easy waves, sun and rest.
