About Cancas

Cancas is a spot in Tumbes with a strong character: a reef break and semi point break of powerful waves that break over a rocky bottom, reserved for experienced surfers. North of the pier, quality tubular sections form that, together with the marked currents of the area, demand a good level and experience in the water. It is a wave less known and crowded than other northern destinations, which makes it a reward for the advanced surfer seeking power and solitude. The water is warm and tropical all year round, typical of Peru's far north, which allows surfing in boardshorts in any season. The area keeps its fishing cove atmosphere, with artisanal fishing and seafood cuisine. For the advanced traveler exploring Tumbes, Cancas offers waves with character and an authentic setting, away from the crowds, on one of the warmest and most rugged stretches of the Peruvian coast.
