About Punta Negra

Punta Negra is a classic surf area located south of Lima, in the beach town of the same name, with several well-known peaks that have made it part of the capital's usual wave circuit. Its bottoms combine reef and sand sectors, and offer options for different levels depending on the peak and the size of the day, from friendlier waves for those progressing to more shaped sections when swell comes in. It works best with south swells, typical of the southern hemisphere winter. Being right on the southern coast, it shares the zone with heavily surfed beaches such as Punta Hermosa and San Bartolo, which integrates it into one of the richest wave areas in the country. It is a quiet beach town, with a good local atmosphere and easy access from the Panamericana Sur. For the Lima surfer wanting to explore varied peaks away from the more crowded beaches, Punta Negra is a classic, versatile stop in southern Lima.
