About San Gallán - Sangayán
San Gallán, also called Sangayán, is an island within the Paracas National Reserve, in Ica, home to one of the best rights in Peru and a challenge reserved for expert surfers. It is reached only by boat, about an hour from the El Chaco pier, which makes it a real adventure before even entering the water. The wave is a reef break over rocky and coral bottom that breaks to the west, with long, tubular sections of great quality and power. Its best season runs from March to October, with south swells. Being in a marine nature reserve, the setting is spectacular, with abundant marine life and birds, far from any crowd. Because of its isolation, shallow bottom and power, San Gallán is only for experienced, well-prepared surfers seeking an extreme, unforgettable experience in Peruvian waters.
