About Puerto Caballas

Puerto Caballas is a quality left located on the coast of the Ica region, a remote spot that rewards those who venture into the southern desert of Peru. Its waves are consistent and powerful, with long walls that shape up well when the south swell comes in, and are almost always enjoyed with very few surfers in the water. The setting is uniquely beautiful: cliffs, dunes and crystal-clear water in a desert landscape that seems from another planet. The best season runs from April to October, in the middle of the southern hemisphere winter. As an isolated place with very limited services, it is best to come prepared with water, food and equipment, and to plan the access well. It is a wave recommended for intermediate surfers and above who seek adventure, solitude and powerful waves on one of the most pristine stretches of the Peruvian coast.
