What is WaveSearch?
WaveSearch is a surf forecast and wave report platform specialized in the Peruvian coast. We combine oceanographic data from multiple scientific sources to give you the most accurate surf report: wave height, period, swell direction, wind and sea conditions across 81 spots in 20 regions of Peru.
Scientific Data Sources
We don't make up data. We use the same sources that professional researchers and meteorologists rely on for wave forecasting:
Open-Meteo
Weather and marine API
Wave forecast (ECMWF WAM model), wind, period, swell direction, water temperature, visibility and weather conditions. Updated every 3 hours with coverage up to 15 days.
Copernicus CMEMS
European Union Marine Service
Ocean currents, secondary swell and high-resolution wave data (0.083°). Extends the surf forecast up to 15 days with complementary information.
How Does the Forecast Work?
We collect wave data
Every 3 hours we download updated sea conditions from Open-Meteo and every 6 hours from Copernicus CMEMS for each surf spot.
We analyze surf conditions
Our algorithm evaluates wave height, period, offshore/onshore wind and secondary swell to calculate a surf conditions score from 1 to 10.
We tell you when the waves are good
Set up wave alerts and we'll notify you up to 72 hours in advance when conditions will be optimal for surfing.
